Construction Update at the Grand Floridian Plus New Path.

It's been a long time coming, but the Grand Floridian Disney Vacation Club property is almost complete. Scheduled to open for guests on October 23, 2014, you can see partially completed rooms through the large windows on the water side. Gorgeous tray ceilings and cabinets are already in place.

The outside of the resort still looks half-finished, however.

As you can see from this picture, the water side looks more complete than the monorail side.

If you know me well, you know that one of my favorite places in Walt Disney World is the pathway between the Polynesian Resort and the Grand Floridian. I often walk it for no reason other than to enjoy the pretty scenery and I was worried how the the DVC property would effect the view. Thankfully, it's been improved.

The entire path, save for the small part in front of the Wedding Pavilion, now borders on the Seven Seas Lagoon. It's much more scenic. It also goes right around between the themed pool and the beach. There's a new fire pit by the pool as well, although it doesn't look like it's complete yet.

It's always nice when your worst fears aren't realized--in this case, that the new addition would be a monstrosity that mars the view.  Really, I loved this walkway before but I like it even more now.

I think Disney did a great job with this property and I can't wait to stay here in November. What do you think?

I expected the rooms to be nicer and little more updated. I think you can still keep with the theme without looking like a grandmother's living room. I wish the Polynesian had some DVC rooms.

We were there in July and it was amazing to see how much had been completed since last year. I wish we could stay here in the near future, but I suspect that it will be difficult to book here unless it's your home resort.

I used to enjoy walking the white sand beach all the way to the Polynesian from the beach at the Grand Floridian. So sad to see that this will no longer be possible.
